The cottages
We have 5 cottages built on bamboo and mud. Spacious, comfortable and clean. The total area of Esalen Estate is 11 acres and river Kaveri flows through the border of the property. There is a large round shaped community space, again built using bamboo. There is electricity, high speed internet and home cooked food.

Its secluded setting makes it an ideal retreat for honeymooners or anyone seeking a peaceful escape. Welcome to the “Hornbill” cottage, your perfect retreat nestled in the serene landscape of Coorg. This charming accommodation features two spacious double rooms, each equipped with a private balcony that offers breathtaking views of the lush estate. The two interconnected bedrooms are ideal for two couples or large families, ensuring both privacy and convenience. Enjoy the tranquility of nature and the comfort of home at the “Hornbill” cottage—a true escape into blissful relaxation.
Woodpecker 1 is a unique double room cottage crafted with bamboo and bamboo materials, offering a rustic charm that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings. The spacious balcony provides a breathtaking view of the forest, making it an ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts seeking tranquility and a connection with the outdoors.
Similar in style to Woodpecker 1, this cottage offers more space with three beds, perfectly suited for groups or bachelors. Enjoy the same bamboo-crafted charm and a large balcony overlooking the lush forest, making it a perfect base for an adventurous getaway.

A small list of things you should take care of to make your stay happier:
We have utmost arrangements of safety and guests need not worry about the sparse jungle around though, we suggest;
- Carry a good pair of shoes for the walks in the farm and around.
- Carry a good flashlight handy with you, in case you want to walk around in the nights.
- Carry your own medication if prescribed for any.
- Carry an insect repellent lotion if you are sensitive to them.
- Inform us in advance for your interest in non-vegetarian food.
- Inform us if you are allergic to anything, especially food.
How to reach
The nearest airport is Kannur in Kerala which is 92 KM away. You can also fly to Mangalore or Bangalore and reach Coorg by road. We are two and half kilometers away from the road that goes to Bhagamandala – Talakaveri, the origin of Kaveri river. Esalen Estate is in between Virajpet and Madikeri in a village called Ballamavatti.
